How to find clients on LinkedIn
In fact, I'm asked almost every day how to find clients on LinkedIn.
One of the things that I often observe is that very few people use LinkedIn to its fullest extent to extract its fullest potential. In other words, people assume that LinkedIn is a very limited service and all you can do with it is to use the standard functions.
So, I would like to give you a few ideas on how to find clients on Linkedin and how to make the most of this tool.
As a matter of fact, LinkedIn has access to millions of professionals and, more importantly, your prospects.
And one of the parts of LinkedIn that most people ignore is the LinkedIn Cover Story video.
Creating a LinkedIn Cover Story Will Help You Discover How to Find Clients on LinkedIn
Your LinkedIn Cover Story video is going to help you stand out from the competition, and when you get it right, it's going to attract new prospects to you.
And, most importantly, this is going to lead them directly to you.
Your LinkedIn Cover Story video is what people are going to see before they click on the link that will take them to your profile.
You want people that are not familiar with your business or your brand to watch your cover story and be intrigued enough by it that they reach out to you to explore your services.
In this video, you're going to understand how to create your own LinkedIn Profile Cover Story video.
I taught this technique to my clients a few months ago, and the results were phenomenal.
Here's a fitness and nutrition coach who uploaded her LinkedIn Cover Story video and just a few days later got a client from that video.
What is a LinkedIn cover story?
LinkedIn Cover Videos are short introduction videos you create and upload to your LinkedIn profile. They show up in your PROFILE PHOTO when someone lands on your profile.
What happens is someone lands on your LinkedIn profile and for 3 seconds, your LinkedIn Cover Story video is displayed instead of your profile photo. The video is muted during these 3 seconds.
The visitor can then click on the video or your profile photo and watch the entire cover story video, unmuted. This video is 30 seconds long or less.
Think about the potential this has for you when you are exploring how to find clients on LinkedIn. Your prospects are coming to your profile to check you out and you get 30 seconds to make that first impression!
Do you want to make a great first impression when you are trying to find clients on LinkedIn? Of course, you do.
LinkedIn Cover Story videos are the perfect way to do just that. They’re professional, engaging and they help you stand out from your competition. And with a mobile-friendly design, it’s easier than ever for viewers to watch your video on their phone or tablet.

In business, first impressions are key. If you don't make a good one, you could be losing out on potential customers, partners, and more.
So many people ask me how to find clients on LinkedIn and my answer is that you must optimize every aspect of your profile to demonstrate expertise, authority and that you can offer a transformation to your clients.
You, also, might be wondering how as an entrepreneur, solopreneur, or service provider how to find clients on LinkedIn. It all starts with your profile and the LinkedIn Cover Story video is a remarkable way to use LinkedIn to find clients.
LinkedIn is one of the most predictable ways to find clients for your business.
So let's lay a few ground rules as you get into this.
The first is that you're going to need the LinkedIn mobile application on your phone.
You're not able to do this at this point through your computer, so make sure you have the LinkedIn mobile application on your phone.
Next, LinkedIn Cover Stories are only 30 seconds long, so you're going to need a 32nd or less pitch or introduction to you and your business, something that helps differentiate you from the competition.
In my flagship program, Organic Client Attraction, I teach a whole bunch of different pitch styles.
But for you right here, right now, the simplest is going to be calling out your perfect audience and then letting them know the services that you offer that will help them make the transformation that they're looking for.
A quick Tip Don't start with "Hi!", don't start with "how are you?" This is a video. People can't say Hi back and they can't answer you if you ask them how they are.
You're just wasting time inside of those 30 seconds and we really do need to get right to the introduction or right to the pitch.
So have that 30-second pitch ready to go so that you can record that for your LinkedIn Cover Story video.
Here's an example of a 30-second pitch that I might use for my own business.
"Entrepreneurs and solopreneurs can learn how to wildly grow their businesses with my training program because it teaches them how to predictably attract high-paying clients through social media.
If you'd like to learn more, you can hop on my calendar at prouty.me"
It's always great to finish with some sort of a call to action, an opportunity to get on your calendar or connect with you for more information so you're going to want to have that ready as well.
And a quick question for you.
Would you like to learn how to pitch your business in a video like this?
If so, in the comments of the video, type: Teach me to pitch.
And if I see enough of those, one of my upcoming videos will be a video on different pitch techniques that you can use on your website, in social media, or in networking events.
So once again, drop teach me to pitch in the comments of the video.
If I see enough of those, I'll create that video for you.
All right, the next part is actually quite simple.
You've got to record that 30-second pitch.
My recommendation is you use your cell phone for it.
Simply take your cell phone, find a tripod, put that thing on the tripod, hit record, and record your 30-second pitch.
It doesn't have to be perfect and don't let perfection get in the way of getting this done.
So take your phone and hold it in tall mode.
Sometimes that's called portrait mode.
Or put it on a tripod or lean it on something, hit record, and record your 30-second pitch.
Don't worry about overproducing this or getting it absolutely perfect.
Just keep it to 30 seconds or less and record that pitch onto your phone.
Next, we're going to add your video to your profile as your LinkedIn Cover Story video.
To do that, open up the LinkedIn application on your mobile device and go to your profile.
When you go to your profile and you look at your profile picture, you're going to see that there's a little plus next to the profile picture.
Clicking that plus is going to bring you into the interface to allow you to upload that video.
You're also going to notice that you could record your video right from the LinkedIn mobile application.
However, I like recording mine outside of the application so that I can trim it down and keep it to that tight 30 seconds.
If you're going to record it through the LinkedIn application, you're going to have to enable your camera and your microphone for that LinkedIn application so that it can do that recording.
So once you click the plus symbol, then add icon, it's going to bring you to a place where you can add your Cover Story.
The camera will be on by default, but you can also click on your Gallery so that you can go into the Gallery on your mobile device and find the video that you record.
After you're done recording or uploading the prerecorded video, you have an opportunity to review the video.
You should do that.
Then you can also select the visibility settings for your LinkedIn Cover Story video and you can adjust the preview screen.
The preview screen is a three-second clip of your video that shows on your profile when someone logs onto your profile, whether they're on a computer or on their mobile device, and it shows for 3 seconds, but it's muted while it shows.
It's a quick preview of your video.
And it's also a way of getting them to click on your profile photo so that they can watch that entire video.
And then all you have to do is click next and you're done.
You've added your LinkedIn cover story video to your profile.
You can go back into here by clicking on your profile photo to edit or delete that video in case you ever want to upload a new one.
A couple of quick points.
Remember, the video can't be more than 30 seconds long.
You have to be using the latest version of the LinkedIn mobile application to do this.
And as we know from LinkedIn, this feature is currently unavailable in some countries, including China.
Let's hope they open that up in the near future.
And if a member is looking at your profile and they've disabled autoplay of videos, they won't see the preview clip that you selected when you uploaded the video.
This is very rare that this happens, but you should be aware that it might happen.
Your LinkedIn cover story video is the first step to learning how to find clients on LinkedIn.
And this is clearly a video where I'm showing you just one technique.
You're an entrepreneur or a solopreneur and you're unique and you have a unique situation.
